Every time you get into your car and turn the key in the ignition, you are using a Luxembourg invention: the lead-acid battery, which is mainly used as a car battery. Developed by the Luxembourg engineer Henri Tudor in 1886, lead-acid batteries are not suitable for many applications because they are very heavy. In cars, however, they make up for this with their reliability and low purchase price.
