Harp, bassoon or piano? For those who couldn't decide between the instruments, there was a real alternative at the end of the 18th century: the Denis d'Or, a kind of multifunctional instrument designed by the Czech inventor Prokop Divis. It could even imitate the human voice quite well. However, there are also numerous Czech originals that have made it to the present day: Sugar cubes, lightning rods, push buttons and soft contact lenses.
