How long does it take to light an electric lamp? At the Agora Science Adventure Center, you can experience this for yourself. Here you generate electrical energy with your own muscle power. We often don’t think about how the world around us works. At the Agora Science Adventure Center in Hungary, everyday wonders are explained in an understandable and interactive way. This ‘scientific adventure centre’ aims to bring both children and adults closer to the science behind things that we use every day. The three-store high building explains how some of the scientific phenomena work.
An important part of the facility is the interactive room. Here you can try out more than 40 different scientific devices and experience curious scientific effects yourself. For example, you can perceive the propagation of sound waves in a vacuum by reducing the density of the air under a dome. This then changes the sound of a bell. The existence of magnetic fields is also demonstrated here by a special cannon that uses magnetic fields to shoot metal rings at a target. In addition to these interactive toys, lectures, film screenings and other programmes are also offered. At the top of the building, there is also an observatory where visitors can explore the sun, moon and other celestial phenomena.
