Ever burped? Or passed wind? Normally, these are both topics that we feel embarrassed about. But at the Esplora Interactive Science Center in Malta you do not have to be ashamed. Here, you can learn how passing wind or burping happens in the body. Also you can learn about the physiological processes that happen in your body while you digest food. You can even explore a “walk-in” human body.
But that’s not all: the Esplora offers a variety of ways to understand science. You can also fly a hot air balloon and land it, go on a dive with a submarine, create fireworks or put together an environmentally friendly menu in a food truck. It also includes a planetarium, a botanical garden and a large outdoor area. The aim of Esplora is to show science as something entertaining, fun and exciting.
The museum, which was funded by the European Union, has existed since 2016. It is located in a former naval hospital right on the harbor in Kalkara.
